Parents, alum, and community members are closely involved in the life of the school. Much of the school's richness and vitality is due to their contributions of time, talent, treasure, and testimonials. Volunteers serve as class representatives, participate on the Board and its committees, chaperone field trips, help with admissions by meeting with prospective parents, support and attend school events and share their talents and interests in the classrooms.

  • Parent/Caregiver Association

    The PCA serves as a bridge between parents/caregivers, administration, and teachers and staff by organizing community building activities at the grade-level and across the school. All parents and caregivers are members of the PCA and are welcome to attend the meetings. Each classroom or grade band is represented by two or more people, who are ambassadors of the friendly Fayerweather spirit, and share responsibility for recruiting volunteers and participants for class and school events and for keeping other class families informed about PCA, classroom, and school activities. The Association is led by one or two parents or caregivers who serve as chair(s) who meet regularly with the Head of School and others from the School Leadership Team. The PCA Chair(s) work alongside the PCA Leadership Support (PALS) Team–which is composed of a few current PA Reps and recent past Chair(s)--to schedule and lead meetings and events and communicate with the PCA Reps and parents/caregivers. The PCA also plays a part in welcoming new families. The full Charter can be found here.

    PCA meetings are held in person monthly at the school. The time(s) and date(s) for meetings can be found in The ‘Weather Report, in the PCA section of “Resources” on MyFSS, and on the school website calendar, and are generally on Friday mornings. The PCA and school also collaboratively offer Parent/Caregiver Education events to better communicate, support, and partner with families and the broader community.

    PCA Reps: The PCA seeks volunteers to be Reps for their classroom or grade band who:
    • Are ambassadors of the friendly Fayeweather school spirit;
    • Lead and support communication, via emails and WhatsApp chat groups, to and among their class or grade band;
    • Host or recruit other parents to host outside-of-school gatherings;
    • Attend PCA meetings and events;
    • Support the class or grade band teachers as needed;
    • PCA Reps At Large are folks who want to engage with the PCA for a specific project, event, or time period but cannot make a larger year-long commitment;
    • PCA Unit Reps/Captains are parents or caregivers of Unit students who work more independently to build age-appropriate community among Unit families and plan Unit-specific events like Graduation;
    Please see Charter for full description of all roles or contact the Chairs or Ann Eggleston, Director of Advancement & Community Engagement, for more information.
  • Admission Ambassadors

    The Admissions office welcomes ambassadors to engage with prospective families via PeerPal, one-on-one conversations, attending prospective family mornings or evenings, working at the “Fall into Fayerweather” Open House on October 25, 2025, providing tours to prospective families, serving as Buddy Families, and making calls to welcome new families.
  • Advancement Ambassadors

    Annual Fund: As part of this, each classroom has one or two Annual Fund ambassadors to help with the fundraising participation goals. This includes emailing (or calling if you prefer) 5-8 fellow parents to encourage their support of the Solid & Strong CommUNITY Fund. Training is included to support your work.

    Big Night Out Committee: this is the school’s annual adults-only evening out which includes refreshments, merriment, usually music and dancing, and the silent auction and paddle raise. Funds raised from this event support the Tuition Aid Endowed Fund and tuition aid programs, as well as special projects and funds like the Horizon Fund, professional development, and special needs. Committee members help plan the theme, location, decor, set ticket prices, secure auction items, and get the word out encouraging attendance.

    Word of Mouth: WOM Ambassadors share their love of Fayerweather using social media, reviews for websites like Niche.com, and through one-on-one outreach. Training is included to support your work.

  • Alum League and Class Agents

    Fayerweather encourages alums to visit often and to remain involved with the school. Participation as an alum is a wonderful way to stay connected with fellow former students and helps to strengthen the school for future generations. We hold several events throughout the year, including an annual Bowling reunion, Alum Night at the Unit Play, and various activities. For more information, email us at alum@fayerweather.org and follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
In addition to the Parent/Caregiver Association, the school has a variety of committees and programs to support different initiatives. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to join any group that aligns with their interests. Meetings are held regularly and can be found on the online calendar.
