At Fayerweather we use the word community a lot. In our mission we speak about a joyful and collaborative learning community, we believe learning in community is powerful and complex, and we are committed to creating a community where every member feels valued. In the past few weeks, that sense of community has come through powerfully. The Fayerweather Families put the UNITY in commUNITY. As we move toward the end of the year, a time when many of us pause to reflect on what we value most, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to every family who has already contributed to the Solid and Strong CommUNITY Fund, we are now at 88% participation from our families and 100% from the Board of Directors. Your generosity is felt deeply across the school in classrooms buzzing with ideas, in the confidence of students discovering new strengths, and in the joy that comes from knowing they belong to a community that truly sees and supports them.

This season invites us to reflect on what matters: connection, purpose, and the shared responsibility of building something meaningful together. At Fayerweather, we believe education is not simply preparation for life — it is life happening in real time. It is curiosity in action, identity in formation, and joy in discovery. It is students building understanding not just from books, but from each other, the world around them, and the trust we place in their potential.

This kind of transformational learning requires intention, and it requires partnership. The Solid and Strong CommUNITY Fund sustains the values and experiences that set Fayerweather apart: hands-on, inquiry-driven learning; professional development that empowers our educators; robust support for diverse learners; and a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging.

Our strategic plan, Fayerweather 2030, is coming to life. Thanks to early gifts from families across the school, we are already seeing the impact: a schedule redesign that allows more time for deep, meaningful learning experiences; teachers engaging in training and workshops that strengthen their practice and spark new ideas; and specialists partnering with teachers and families to support all students. Because every child deserves the right scaffolding to grow with confidence.

Your generosity also ensures that tuition assistance remains strong, helping maintain a community that reflects our values: diverse, welcoming, and grounded in the belief that every family contributes to Fayerweather’s strength and culture. Belonging doesn’t emerge accidentally. It is built, nurtured, and sustained through shared investment and shared purpose.

Last year, our community accomplished something extraordinary: together we raised over $700,000, meeting a major challenge and propelling us forward in meaningful, lasting ways. This year, with a $1,000,000 goal and a $250,000 challenge, we feel the same collective momentum building — and we know what is possible when Fayerweather families come together.

During this season of gratitude, we want to acknowledge the care, trust, and generosity you bring to this community, whether through your time, your partnership, or your philanthropic support. It signals to our students that their growth, their creativity, and their future are worth investing in.

Thank you for showing up, not just as donors, but as partners in possibility. Thank you for the belief you place in Fayerweather, in our educators, and most importantly, in our students’ capacity to lead with courage, curiosity, compassion, and joy.
