Dear Fayerweather Community,
“Nothing,” wrote Tolstoy, “can make our life, or the lives of other people, more beautiful than perpetual kindness” (from the book, Healing the Divide). I try to be mindful to ask the staff at every meeting or gathering, how are you taking care of yourselves through this crisis? What keeps you sane? Many have responded feeling proud of the work that they do on behalf of FSS, while others are exercising, spending precious time with family members, gardening, organizing and decluttering spaces, reading and sitting down for a daily meal together with those that are near and dear. So, parents, what are you doing to stay sane? How are you caring for yourselves? What brings you joy during this time? What would you consider to be a silver lining? Throughout the month of May, I will be meeting with grade level parent groups to check in with you. You will be hearing from the PA representatives in your respective grades as to the dates and times.
Last week I shared with you that we are working on clarifying schedules, streamlining email communications, and adding some synchronous learning opportunities to facilitate more engagement with students. Starting Monday, May 4th you will be able to access classroom Bulletin Boards through MYFSS. These boards contain academic schedules, assignments, meeting times, videos and links. All this information can be accessed as follows:
To access the classroom Bulletin Boards, start by logging into your
MYFSS account. If you are having trouble accessing your MYFSS account, please contact
Tia@fayerweather.org. Once you have logged in, you can access your child(ren)'s classroom bulletin board two different ways:
- Locate the Groups tab at the top of the page and select your child’s classroom bulletin board from the drop-down menu.
OR - Navigate to the Resources page located at the top of the screen. Scroll to the bottom and click on the All Classroom Bulletin Boards icon.
In each classroom bulletin board, you will find a schedule for the week along with any materials, links, and/or downloads provided by the teachers.
Click here for a brief video tutorial on how to access your child’s classroom bulletin board.
You may also reach out to
Tia,
Andrew,
Sarah, or
Ray to help clarify any issues that you may encounter. You will receive a daily email from grade level teams to remind you to access the bulletin board for more information regarding your child’s schedule. I appreciate your patience as we transition our schedule to this platform.
I also want you to be aware that I have formed a COVID TASK FORCE. The purpose of this task force, which includes board members, staff and parents, will be to assist our leadership team with planning for the fall, including looking at various scenarios, doing research on best practices, including state and federal mandates, as well as supporting the School Leadership Team. A successful outcome of the task force will be to identify a plan of implementation that will be shared with you over the summer. Task force members include; Ben Dunlap, Dov Fogel, Farley Urmston, Rob Lee, Rebecca Lowenhaupt, Ann Eggleston, Charlie McDermott, Abby Branch, Tracey Lowenstein, Molly O’Connor, Catherine Allan, Lance Conrad (Head of Chapel Hill, Chauncy Hall).
All Community Meetings will be taking place throughout the month of May, starting Friday, May 8th. The starting time will be 9:00 PM, and will last about 15 to 20 minutes. All are welcome and we will be sending out information next week. Please note that the Pride Assembly will take place on Friday, May 22nd. Sarah Tahang-Bianco is the lead person who is assisting us with planning the Pride Assembly. We will be sharing information as we get closer to this date.
Enjoy this beautiful day!
Warm Regards,
Kim
