Is Diversity Represented in Games and Toys?

Special Friends TA 1/2 and CA 5/6 gathered together to survey whether diversity was represented in the board games they play at school.
They observed the boxes and/or characters of the game pieces. Some games represented diversity, while some games did not. Others were vague showing characters that were light tan or grayish in skin color. They also observed how diversity was represented. Was it stereotypical or was diversity represented in the background?

Afterwards, the students paired together to write a letter of appreciation to game companies for representing diversity, or a letter of suggestion to represent diversity in an equal and non-stereotypical manner.

We pose this question for all to ponder: What do you think would happen if equal representation in diversity were the norm?

Check out the bulletin board by the front entrance to see their letters. So far we received two responses; both are posted on the board but you can read one of them here.
