Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.

At last Thursday's All Community Meeting, we celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr.!
Kim kicked off the day with her words of welcome to the whole community, followed by a reading of The Sculpture by Nikki Grimes. Each class then presented each of the projects they had been working on throughout January. Kindergarten sang The Colors of Earth by Sarah Pirtle. TA and CA classes reported on their study of diversity in games and toys.

Graciela’s 3-5th grade Spanish classes sang an energetic rendition of Paz. Following that, AD, EN, and the Unit members reported on their cooking and delivery of dishes to Friday Café. Ingleed’s Unit African dance elective performed a celebratory dance from Mali called Samalobe by Abdoulaye Diabate. The KOC showed off their banner and t-shirt design they had been working on. And to close out, CS & ML sang We Shall Overcome by Charles Albert Tindley, and Back of the Bus by Charles Neblett and the Freedom Singers.
