We are so glad you are considering Fayerweather Street School. As a progressive PreK through grade 8 school, we strive to help students connect with their own curiosity and find joy in the learning process.

Finding the school that is the best fit for your child and your family is a big decision. Our goal is to make your application process welcoming and straightforward.   • 1. Complete an Inquiry Form

    We use an online application process. Once you have completed the inquiry form a username and temporary password will be created. This will allow you to log in and begin the application.
  • 2. Parent Tour and Interview

    School tours begin October 10. The parent tour and interview is a required part of the application process. Appointments are offered every day, except Thursdays, at 9:00, 11:00 or 1:30 from October through February. Please note, if you are applying to PreK, you will have to tour at 9:00 as our PreK students are out of the classroom at 11:00 and resting at 1:30. Due to a high demand for tours, we encourage you to schedule your visit early.   • 3. Open Houses

    • There are several opportunities to explore our classrooms and speak with current parents and faculty:

    • Open House on Saturday, October 20, 2018
    • Open House on Saturday, December 8, 2018
  • 4. Application

    To begin an application, please click here or click on the application button on the right. Either one will take you to our online system. Applications are due as soon as possible, but no later than January 15, 2019.  Applications received after January 15th will be considered as space permits. Please contact us for more information. Applications may be submitted before or after you visit the school. The non-refundable application fee is $40.

    Applicants for grades 5 through 8 may submit SSAT or ISEE scores but they are not required.
  • 5. Apply for Tuition Assistance (if applicable)

    Applications for tuition assistance are available online through School and Student Services (SSS) website at sss.nais.org no later than February 1, 2019. Please note SSS also asks for additional financial documentation, such as tax returns and W-2 forms.
    Please be aware that our financial aid budget is typically distributed by the end of April.
  • 6. AISNE Student Evaluation Form(s)

    As a part of the admission process, we use Student Evaluation Forms published by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE). Once you submit your online application, a checklist will be assigned to your child. The online system will prompt you to provide your child's teacher's name and email address, and then an email will be sent to their current homeroom teacher with the appropriate AISNE form attached. This form will be completed by the applicant’s current teacher(s) and sent directly to Fayerweather via mail, email or a fax. These forms are due January 31st, 2019.
    Applicants for PreK through grade 5 need one Student Evaluation Form.

    Applicants for grades 6 through 8 need two Student Evaluation Forms; one for English and one for Math.
  • 7. Applicant Visit

    Children applying for PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade will visit for a playgroup session with other children applying for the same grade. During the playgroups, parents will have the opportunity to participate in a Question and Answer session with our Head of School, Kim Ridley.

    • PreKindergarten applicant visit day will be Saturday, January 26
    • 6th - 8th grade applicant visit days are January 28, 30 and February 1
    • Kindergarten applicant visit day will be on Saturday, February 2
    • 1st and 2nd grade applicant visit day will be on Saturday, February 2
    • 3rd - 5th grade applicant visit day will be February 8
    Children applying to grades three through eight will visit on a weekday, and teachers will have organized group and individual assessments.
  • 8. Decisions

    Admission decision letters will be mailed on March 8, 2019. Families will have until April 10, 2019 to submit their enrollment contract and deposit to secure a space for the fall.

Your application is not complete until a copy of your 2018 tax return is submitted. All awards are provisional pending receipt of the return.
