Over that year I had formed a close relationship with Carolyn, my Humanities teacher, and I felt comfortable enough to tell her my worries. I trusted her to not just blow off my concerns but to actually acknowledge them and help me deal with it. She listened and told me what she thought, not laughing at me but being serious, and she calmed me down. For that, I am grateful. This relationship has shown me that a teacher can be more than just an educator; they can be a friend.
