The teachers at Fayerweather make learning fun. I mean, who wouldn’t want to write Haikus on a sunny day at Fresh Pond? Or tell their personal family history with a wampum belt? Who wouldn’t want to bike to Arlington to get ice-cream at Brigham’s during Project Days? Or learn to make sushi or bagels? Who wouldn’t want to play electric guitar and drums while playing popular songs with a band in music class?
In closing, the class of 2020 is the first class to have been together for part of the year at school and part of the year at home, learning remotely. It was hard, it was unsettling, and it was especially lonesome because of social distancing and isolation. However, we’ve all come out wiser, stronger, and even more resilient than ever before. We’ve had to grow up and take on more responsibilities because of it. We at Fayerweather continue to be the strong community we have always been: joyful, focused and grounded. In other words, we remain empowered no matter the challenges.
