Geneva

Fayerweather taught me to embrace people's differences. From early projects like mixing paints to match our skin tones in pre-k to Unit projects like making Identity Posters this year, Fayerweather finds all sorts of ways to honor differences and teach kids that they shouldn’t be afraid to be themselves. There is no better example of this than how many Unit kids showed up to walk with the school at last year’s Pride parade, demonstrating that Fayerweather students are proud of who they are.
There is no way the three year old me could have known how important that random decision was, but I would like to thank her for accidentally choosing a school that would end up being so important to me.

"You remind me of the ball launcher project, because the
first week of the school year, you came up with a unique
design, using pencils as the fulcrum and lever arm for the
launcher. And a day you were absent, you missed hearing
your classmates wail, “We can’t do anything, Geneva isn’t
here.”..."
