Fayerweather Street School respects the privacy of the families who visit this website. This policy explains what information we collect when you use fayerweather.org, how we use it, who we share it with, and what choices you have.
This policy covers this website only. It does not cover information the school collects about enrolled students and their families, which is governed by our Family Handbook and by the school's Written Information Security Program.
Who this website is for
This website is intended for adults — prospective and current parents and guardians, prospective employees, alumni, and members of our community. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.
Information you give us
When you contact the school, request information, or register for an event, you provide information directly. On this website, those actions link out to Veracross, the enrollment and information system the school uses. When you click Inquire, or register for a tour, Discovery Day, or another event, you leave fayerweather.org and complete the form on a Veracross site. The information you enter there is collected by Veracross on the school's behalf and is governed by Veracross's own privacy practices as well as by the school's handling of family records.
If you email us using an address published on this site, we receive whatever you choose to send.
Information collected automatically.
When you visit fayerweather.org, some information is recorded automatically. This includes the pages you view, the site or search that brought you here, the approximate geographic area you're in, the type of device and browser you're using, and the date and time of your visit. Some of this is stored in cookies — small files placed on your device — or in similar technologies.
We do not collect your name, address, or contact details this way. The information is tied to a device or browser identifier rather than to you by name.
The services we use
Google Analytics measures how the website is used — which pages people visit, how they arrive, and whether they click through to inquiry or event registration forms. We use this to understand whether the site is useful and to improve it. Google's handling of this data is described in Google's own privacy policy.
Feathr is the marketing platform the school uses for digital advertising. Feathr recognises visitors to this website so that the school can show relevant advertising to people who have expressed interest in Fayerweather. This is commonly called retargeting: if you visit our website pages, you may later see a Fayerweather advertisement on another website or on social media. Feathr connects to advertising platforms to deliver those ads, including Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram. Data about your visit is shared with those platforms for this purpose.
We do this because we are a small school with a small marketing budget, and reaching families who have already shown interest in us is the most efficient way we have to fill our classrooms. We want to be straightforward that it is what we do.
Digistorm hosts this website and provides its content management system.
What we do not do.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share information you submit through forms with anyone other than the service providers described above who process it on the school's behalf. We do not use the information collected on this website to make decisions about admission.

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking them will stop most of the tracking described above. It may also affect how some parts of this site work.

If you would prefer that we not use your information in these ways, or you want to know what we hold, write to us at the address below and we will do what we can.
We do not currently respond to browser Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals, because the website does not yet have a mechanism for reading them. We expect that to change.
How long we keep it
Website analytics data is retained for fourteen months and then deleted. Information you submit through an inquiry or registration form is retained by the school as part of its admissions records.
Security
The school maintains a Written Information Security Program under Massachusetts regulation 201 CMR 17.00, covering how we access, store, transmit, and protect records containing personal information. That program is described in the Family Handbook and applies to the school's records generally, including anything you submit to us.
Photographs of students
Our practices around student photographs and video are described in the Family Handbook. In summary: students are never identified by file name or in captions on this website, on social media, or in print, and identifying labels are removed before any image is published.
Links to other sites
This website links to sites the school does not control, including Veracross for inquiries and registrations, and our social media accounts. Once you follow one of those links, this policy no longer applies. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change, and we will change the effective date at the top when we do. Massachusetts is currently considering comprehensive privacy legislation, and if it passes we will revise this policy to reflect it.

Founded in 1967, Fayerweather is an all-gender independent private school enrolling students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and located in Cambridge, MA. Children here are taken seriously — as thinkers, as individuals, as people whose presence in the world already matters. They learn by doing real things, in real places, for real audiences. They become themselves, in community, over time.
