2026 Voter Guide
A voter guide from Fayerweather’s 7th and 8th graders
Massachusetts voters will find nine questions on the ballot on Tuesday, November 3. Our 7th and 8th graders spent the past month working out what each one would do, and they wrote this guide for busy voters who want a clear explanation without hours of reading.
The guide is an example of Fayerweather's project-based learning focus. Each project starts from a driving question. Here it was “How can we help busy Massachusetts voters make informed decisions about ballot initiatives when they vote this fall?” Students learn by chasing down the answers and making something that people outside the classroom will actually use.
Each student took on one ballot question. They started with the state’s official ballot booklet, then went to other sources, weighing each one for bias and credibility. For every question, the guide explains what it proposes, what a yes or a no vote means, and who wants it to pass or fail and why. An early draft went out to local voters for feedback, and the students revised it from there, adding a glossary at one student’s insistence. At the end you’ll find a few of their own reflections, including how some of them would vote.
Read it, share it with anyone who could use it, and vote on November 3.
