Building a 'Feeling Toolbox'

During these times where we are stuck at home, our patience is being tested, and we're feeling a little sad, it's important to have strategies and tools to help manage our feelings.
The kindergarten teachers wanted to make sure their students had these strategies and tools, and so they challenged them to create a feeling toolbox. A feeling toolbox is a box that includes items to help you calm down when you are having big, hard, feelings. These items could include a photo of a peaceful place, a soft fabric or stuffy, or spices that smell good and remind us to breathe. Once calm, it gives a child the opportunity to communicate how they're feeling with their family. After seeing how well the kindergarteners connected with the feeling toolbox activity, we thought we'd share it with the entire Fayerweather community to help everyone during this difficult time.
