Parents, alums, and community members are closely involved in the life of the school. Much of the school's richness and vitality is due to their contributions of time, talent, treasure, and testimonials. Volunteers serve as class representatives, participate on the Board and its committees, chaperone field trips, help with admissions by meeting with prospective parents, support and attend school events and share their talents and interests in the classrooms.

  • Parent Association

The Parent Association serves as a bridge between parents, administration, and teachers and staff by organizing community building activities at the grade-level and across the school. All parents are members of the Parent Association (PA) and are welcome to attend the meetings. Each classroom or grade band is represented by two or more parents, who are ambassadors of the friendly Fayerweather spirit, and share responsibility for recruiting volunteers and participants for class and school events and for keeping parents informed about PA, classroom, and school activities. The Association is led by one or two parents who serve as chair(s) who meet regularly with the Head of School and others from the School Leadership Team. The PA Chair(s) work alongside the PA Leadership Support (PALS) Team which is composed of a few current PA Reps to schedule and lead meetings and events and communicate with the PA Reps and parents. The PA also plays a part in welcoming new parents. The full Charter can be found here.

PA meetings are held in person monthly at the school. The time(s) and date(s) for Parent Association meetings can be found in The ‘Weather Report, in the PA section of “Resources” on MyFSS, and on the school website calendar. The PA and school also collaboratively offer Parent Education events to better communicate, support, and partner with parents and the broader community.
  • Admission Ambassadors

Parent Ambassadors connect with prospective and new Fayerweather families. They greet families at events, make phone calls to families inquiring about Fayerweather, and encourage the community spirit between current families and those new to our school.

Ambassadors can also get involved through the Word of Mouth Ambassador Program, becoming a contact on PeerPal, or becoming an Admissions tour guide.
  • Advancement Ambassadors

Annual Fund: As part of this, each classroom has one or two Annual Fund ambassadors to help with the fundraising participation goals. This includes emailing (or calling if you prefer) 5-8 fellow parents to encourage their support of the Solid & Strong CommUNITY Fund. Training is included to support your work.

Big Night Out Committee: this is the school’s annual adults-only evening out which includes refreshments, merriment, usually music and dancing, and the silent auction and paddle raise. Funds raised from this event support the Tuition Aid Endowed Fund, Horizon Fund, professional development, and special projects at the school. Committee members help plan the theme, location, decor, set ticket prices, secure auction items, and get the word out encouraging attendance.
  • Alum League and Class Agents

Fayerweather encourages alums to visit often and to remain involved with the school. Participation as an alum is a wonderful way to stay connected with fellow former students and helps to strengthen the school for future generations. We hold several events throughout the year, including an annual Bowling reunion, Alum Night at the Unit Play, and various activities. For more information, email us at alum@fayerweather.org and follow our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
In addition to the Parent Association, there are various committees at the school to support different initiatives. Parents are encouraged to join one that matches their interests. Meetings happen regularly and are listed on the online calendar.
