Learning Resources
At Fayerweather, teachers work to help all students feel nurtured, challenged and
valued. In order to meet the needs of all students, Fayerweather provides resource
support for those students needing additional instruction and practice. Resource
program is designed to provide children with additional support in reading, writing
and organization. Resource Specialists are available to work with students individually
or in small groups, both within and outside of the classroom.
In 1st and 2nd grades, resource teachers work directly in classrooms to support
the beginning literacy process for all students. In grades 3rd -6th, students typically
work individually or in small study groups in the resource room several times a
week. In 7th and 8th grade, students often receive additional support from their
homeroom teacher in “Skills Class” in lieu of Spanish. These classes focus on homework,
writing and organizational skills. In addition, some students receive further outside
support from private tutors.
