Younger Afterschool
In Younger Afterschool (YAS), we provide a warm and friendly environment to PreK
through 2nd grade students, encompassing a variety of choices within a consistent
structure. We emphasize and practice skills of physical and emotional safety, using
polite and cooperative words and actions, personal responsibility, as well as fostering
independent and creative thinking, and of course, having lots of fun!
Games, music, dress-up, blocks, drawing, and a variety of manipulatives provide
many options for students. Each year we incorporate a theme to our weekly art projects
such as different countries and cultures, animal habitats, and human habitats. Once
a week a cooking or baking project provides our daily sit down snack which begins
with our sign language snack poem.
