The Diversity Committee sponsored a community quilting project as part of our 2006-2007
theme Bridges of Hope and Faith: Making Connections among Culture, Faith, Religion,
and Race. Each family had the opportunity to make a quilt square expressing what
they found inspiring and sustaining—anything from activism to compassion to faith
to love to play to nature to religion to wonder. Simple instructions and art supplies
were available in the library. Volunteers sewed the squares together to make banners
that celebrate our differences and our community. The project is ongoing so that
families who have not contributed a square can do so at any time.
