Parent Association: provides information to the parent body, promotes
communication between parents and the Board of Directors, and contributes to a sense
of community and parent involvement. All parents are part of the Parent Assoc.
Board of Directors: sets policy and oversees the work of the school
- it is composed of 10 parent directors, four staff members, two students from the
7th/8th grade class and six community representatives.
Board Members
Diversity Committee: works to continue to educate the FSS
community about issues of racism, sexism, classism, homophobia, peace and social
justice.
Finance Committee: works with the Business Manager and the Head
to oversee the financial operations of the school.
Growth Ed Committee: provides resources and facilitate parent
discussion groups and potlucks centering around parents’ questions pertaining
to their children’s social, emotional and physical development.
Buildings and Grounds Committee: focus is on the maintenance of
the school property and grounds and on the short and long-term needs of the school.
Library Committee: supports the library staff by cataloguing and
shelving books, and by working on library events.
Development Committee: coordinates activities designed to raise
additional funds above and beyond those brought in by tuition, and maintian outreach
to alumni.
Governance Committee: monitors the functioning of the Board -including
educating Directors, announcing meetings and Board decisions, reviewing by-laws
and procedures employed to implement decisions.
Education Committee: takes on the periodic study of educational
issues of relevance to the Board and makes recommendations to the Board concerning
those issues.
Personnel Policy Committee: addresses issues that impact the well-being
and morale of the faculty and staff: compensation structure, health insurance, retirement
and other benefits, and the staff facilitation process.
