June 9th - June 27th
SummerTime at Fayerweather is a creative arts camp for children ages 5 through 14.
The program runs from June 9th through to 27th. SummerTime is designed
to provide children with time to explore and learn in a creative, supportive and fun atmosphere.
Areas of study or "workshops" as they are called, include studio arts, music, drama,
dance, sports and film (for older students.)
SummerTime Arts Program - entering grades K-5th
In the Arts Program “Workshops” are taught by professionals in their field and provide
opportunities for discovery and skill development with unique materials and themes.
Each week children enjoy new ways to move, play, fashion their own art and create
music. Past workshops have included:
- Studio Art - Silk-screening t-shirts and print making
- Music - Building instruments and drumming circles
- Drama – playing improv games and creating short skits
- Dance – learning and performing Haitian and Senegalese dances
SummerTime Film Festival - entering grades 5-8
This Film Festival program encourages collaboration and teamwork while providing
kids with the opportunity to work with video technology and equipment. While much
time is dedicated to film making, older students also participate in other SummerTime
activities throughout the day. Students can try their hand at:
- Drawing and developing storyboards
- Creating atmosphere with sound, lights and props
- Acting and improvisation
Open Workshop is an essential SummerTime element. Each day after
lunch, kids explore a workshop of their choice.
This is a time for kids across age levels to connect and collaborate during the
day. Past workshops have included:
- Designing and making your own jewelry
- Baking cookies, making ice cream and strawberry shortcake
- Designing and building paper airplanes
- Playing collaborative games, soccer and ultimate frisbee
