Regatta & Expo 2008
The Regatta and Expo are an annual spring event. In the middle of May we drag
out the tarp-lined race course, screw down the fans and bring out the boats carefully
designed and crafted in the woodshop over the winter. The racing pairs are matched by length
alone and there are always thrills and surprises. The halftime show is a Nautical Exposition
of creative delights!

Helping Hands 2008
Helping Hands was an evening event that brought the Fayerweather community together
to create gifts for people in need. We made welcome baskets for refugee families,
polar fleece blankets for infants and toddlers, valentines for the elderly, activity
kits for hospital waiting rooms, Saturday and Sunday lunch for the homeless, bookmarks
for library literacy programs, birthday parties-in-a-bag and blankets for shelter
cats and dogs.

Mix-Up For Social Justice 2008
Occasionally instead of our Thursday morning All School Meeting, we mix all
the grades and play games or work on a project together. In celebration of Martin
Luther King’s Birthday this year we Mixed-Up to make posters that illustrated quotes
from Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Sojourner Truth and others. Not only were
we inspired, but we became better friends!

Harvest Festival 2007
The Harvest Festival is a special event put on by the Unit. This year the Harvest
Festival began with a parade to lead everyone to the park for a scavenger hunt.
When everyone returned to the side yard of the school the games began! Sponge Toss,
Shave the Balloon, Donuts on a String and two Candy Slides were only a few of the
many attractions. It was GREAT!

Project Days 2007
Project Days is a tradition at Fayerweather where the entire school takes two
days off to try something new. Teachers lead projects ranging from Sushi Making
to Sewing, Orienteering to Camping or Breaking Rocks to Dropping Eggs. Kids choose
their favorites and mix across the grades for two days of fun and exploration.
