The older elementary school years are an exciting time of discovery and development. Students begin to identify their own voice, take responsibility for attaining goals, and learn to effectively articulate their ideas. The curriculum is largely project-based; students often work collaboratively as they explore, build, experiment, reason, and discuss their work. Themes of Colonial America, the American Revolution, Human Rights and Africa are designed to take students beyond their immediate world and explore concepts of humanity. Classes break into half groups for much of the day and students begin to travel to different rooms for math and science. Science themes include Electricity, Magnetism, Buoyancy and many more - students use the science lab weekly. Spanish is taught in grade groups with students continuing to students integrate and apply their developing language skills.
